Banding in the moonlight

A brown bat held in a persons hand wearing a blue glove. The persons hand is holding the bats forearm, which has a metal arm band.

As part of a long-term bat monitoring program, we would catch little brown bats and mark them with PIT-tags (microchips) to be able to identify individuals later on. However, sometimes we would come across previously banded individuals – like this bat whose records can be traced back from 2009!
