The Endowed Fund for the H. Sanford Riley Fellowship in Canadian History was established by Chancellor H. Sanford Riley in 2005 as part of The University of Winnipeg Foundation capital development campaign. As Founder and Chair of The University of Winnipeg Foundation, Chancellor Riley established this fund for the purpose of enabling Canadian historians to visit The University of Winnipeg as Fellows for periods of time varying from several weeks to six months to undertake research projects, conduct academic seminars, and offer public lectures and presentations in Canadian history. Each Fellow will be invited to undertake a Distinguished Lecture for the community and to contribute to the development of interest in Canadian History among high school students.
