‘The Mabel’ – Mabel Slatcher McPhedran Tribute Bursary
Established by Professor Marilou McPhedran, C.M., in memory of her mother, Mabel Slatcher McPhedran and her father Jack McPhedran, this Bursary will support a student enrolled in any Global College academic credit program and will be considered to be part of the Global Citizenship Fund at The University of Winnipeg Global College.
Future Fund-The Global College
Purpose and Description of Fund: The Future Fund will provide The Global College with flexible and critical resources required to address the immediate academic priorities (areas of greatest need) of today while building a secure foundation for the future. The purpose of the fund is to strengthen and support the academic mission and vision of the University by supporting the academic units, innovation and community. The flexibility of the fund will build on existing efforts; create new opportunities and open doors to innovative academic development as strategically identified by the Dean and the Faculty. More specifically, the fund will support activities such as faculty research, academic enhancements and development, innovative programming, chairs, professorships, facilities and infrastructure upgrades and technology, supporting student and faculty experiences gained through competitions, case studies, exchanges, conferences, faculty and staff recruitment, etc. The Future Fund will include undesignated and designated funds (if designated by a donor) that will enable the Dean the opportunity to allocate and assign funding to address strategic priorities and critical needs. Type of Fund: Current Trust and Endowment. All funds received will go into current trust unless otherwise specified by donor. The goal is to build the endowment while addressing strategic priorities and areas of greatest need. In consultation with the designated University committee, the President with the Dean, will review funds received on an ongoing basis and determine the amounts to be spent in the current fiscal year and amounts to be transferred to endowment.

HKCBA Endowment
The HKCBA Travel Award was created to acknowledge the role former University of Winnipeg President Dr. Lloyd Axworthy had in helping Hong Kong during the transition to Chinese sovereignty. This award will be open to current University of Winnipeg undergraduate and graduate students from any area of study who travel to Hong Kong or South East Asia for an academic or professional purpose. Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum 24 credit hours to be eligible. To be considered, the student must submit a proposal/essay outlining their travel plan and interest in building academic or business relationships in Hong Kong / South East Asia. Applicants must outline the purpose for travelling and include supporting documents where possible. Acceptable proposals may include but are not limited to: participation in a professional conference or trade event; enrollment as a visiting or exchange student at another university; research, internship, work-study or employment opportunities abroad. Recipients will be expected to provide a report on their return and may be invited to present their findings and experience to the university and award donors. Depending upon the proposal submitted, award funding may be distributed as a reimbursement following the submission of the final report and/or eligible expense receipts. This travel and study award has been financed by the HKBCA. The HKBCA is equally comprised of Asian and Non-Asian supporters and takes a high interest in two-way/bi-lateral trade relationships. Founded in 1984, the HKBCA is one of the largest bilateral trade associations in Canada, with over 1,000 members in eight major cities from coast to coast.

Donate To This FundNaomi Levine Scholarship in Peace and Conflict Studies
This Scholarship will be awarded to students attending The University of Winnipeg in the joint Masters Program in Peace and Conflict Studies, coordinated through Global College. Dr. Arthur V. Mauro, O.C, O.M., Q.C., established this scholarship to support annual awards in the name of his wife, Naomi Levine. These scholarships will recognize Ms Levine’s significant contributions to human rights and social justice and permit increased access, awareness and interest among a wider array of potential scholars for Peace and Conflict Studies in Manitoba.
Rotary District 5550 Global Citizen Award
This Award is made to students enrolled in designated Global College programs that advance the interests of Rotary World Peace Partner 5550 in promoting global citizenship and peaceful solution of conflict, a) the summer Adventures in Global Citizenship course, and b) the Joint MA Peace and Conflict Studies. Awards will be made on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, or community service. Undergraduate recipients must have a GPA of at least 2.50; graduate students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Rotary World Peace Partners 5550 is a project of Rotary Clubs in district 5550, which includes Manitoba and portions of Saskatchewan and northwestern Ontario. The donor has previously contributed approximately $10,000 to The University of Winnipeg in each 2011 and 2012.
The Global College El Tassi Annual Lectures Fund
The fund will support the University of Winnipeg’s innovative “Summer Institute” model that provides university credit courses and opportunities for Community Learning and the public “El Tassi Lecture” to be presented annually in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The Global College Field Course Fund
This fund supports Field Courses created by Global College and The United Centre for Theological Studies. An initial field course will take place in Israel and the West Bank, and explore contemporary conflict and justice issues in Israeli-Palestinian relations. A second field course will examine relations between indigenous Canadians and other Canadians, with a particular focus on Manitoba, including urban and rural communities. Other field courses may be scheduled in the future.
The Marsha Hanen Global Dialogue and Ethics Fund
The Marsha Hanen Global Dialogue and Ethics program was established in 2005 with a generous donation from former University of Winnipeg President Marsha Hanen CM. Dr. Hanen intends her gift as the inaugural contribution to the establishment of a Global Dialogue Fund in support of the activities of The University of Winnipeg’s Global College. This fund will support the open expression and dissemination of ideas and respectful discussion, by providing an interdisciplinary forum for faculty-initiated research and dialogue on relevant topics of the day such as ethics, human rights and responsibilities; women’s issues and women’s global roles; local and international community needs; freedom of expression and civil liberties; citizenship and participation in globalization and democracy; responsibility and security; global corporate responsibility, ethics, and governance; impacts of science and technology; and global public health issues. Community and student participation is encouraged wherever appropriate. The Gwendolyn and Joseph Sector Fund #1596 income is added to the 4020 award given to recipients. They are separate in name, but Fund 1596 is to supplement fund 4020 indefinitely.
