This Bursary is established in honour of Dr. Curtis Roy Nordman, who served as Dean of Continuing Education at The University of Winnipeg from 1991 to 2000. It will be awarded annually to an adult learner who demonstrates financial need and who has completed at least two courses in a Continuing Education certificate or diploma program.
Educational Assistant Diploma Program Bursary (PACE – Jonah Dueck Autism Scholarship Fund)
This Bursary was established by the Jonah Dueck Autism Scholarship Fund. It will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Educational Assistant Diploma Program at Professional, Applied and Continuing Education (PACE) who demonstrates financial need and has expressed a desire to work with special education students. This Bursary is administered by The Winnipeg Foundation.
Future Fund – PACE (Professioinal Applied and Continuing Education
The Future Fund will provide the Division of Professional, Applied and Continuing Education with flexible and critical resources required to address the immediate academic priorities (areas of greatest need) of today while building a secure foundation for the future. The purpose of the fund is to strengthen and support the academic mission and vision of the University by supporting the academic units, innovation and community. The flexibility of the fund will build on existing efforts; create new opportunities and open doors to innovative academic development as strategically identified by the Dean of Continuing Education and the Faculty of PACE. More specifically, the fund will support activities such as faculty research, academic enhancements and development, innovative programming, chairs, professorships, facilities and infrastructure upgrades and technology, supporting student and faculty experiences gained through competitions, case studies, exchanges, conferences, faculty and staff recruitment, etc. The Future Fund will include undesignated and designated funds (if designated by a donor) that will enable the Dean the opportunity to allocate and assign funding to address strategic priorities and critical needs.
Gwen Axworthy Bursary
This Bursary was established by members of the Axworthy family in recognition of their mother Gwen’s 80th birthday to recognize her love of lifelong learning and strong commitment to the 55 Plus Program. It will be awarded annually to a student who has completed at least one course in the PACE 55 Plus Program and who requires financial assistance for additional courses in that program.
Helen Maroy Memorial Bursary
This Bursary, established by a bequest gift from Helen Maroy, will be awarded annually to a student(s) who demonstrates financial need to enable them to register for courses in the 55 Plus Program, a community program operating within the Division of Professional, Applied and Continuing Education.
PACE – Faculty and Staff Award
This Award is established by the staff and instructors of Professional, Applied and Continuing Education (PACE). It will be awarded to a PACE diploma student enrolled in a full-time program of studies on the basis of academic achievement. Financial need will be a consideration.

Stewart Family Scholarship for Adult Learners
The Stewart family established this fund in memory of Henry Rieff Stewart, who graduated from The University of Winnipeg Collegiate in 1948 and attended United College from 1948 to 1950, and in memory of E. Jocelyn Stewart who attended The University as a mature student starting in 1970. This Scholarship will be awarded to a Professional, Applied and Continuing Education certificate or diploma student on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Eligibility is also based on the following conditions: an absence of at least 5 years between previous formal education and the resumption of studies and, the completion of at least two of the applicable Program requirements.
The 55 Plus Dedicated Classroom Fund – Professional Applied and Continuing Education
As an essential piece of our history and commitment to community, it is our hope to acquire dedicated classroom space on campus designed and reserved specifically for our 55 plus students.
The 55 Plus Tuition Fund – Professional Applied and Continuing Education
Donate to existing bursaries used to provide tuition support to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in the program. This includes the Gwen Axworthy Bursary and Helen S. Malroy Bursary.
The Harold Buchwald Bursary for Arts & Culture Management
This Bursary was established in memory of Harold Buchwald, long-standing patron and supporter of the arts in Winnipeg. The Bursary will support Arts & Cultural Management students at The University of Winnipeg’s Division of Professional, Applied and Continuing Education who are upgrading and/or undertaking professional development in this unique program. Eligible students will be employed in the sector, and will be members of the Arts and Cultural Industry Association (ACI). A letter of support from the employer and proof of ACI membership will be required in order to apply.
