Heartberry

Three small red strawberries dangle from a stem against a green foliage background

The Anishinaabe word for ‘strawberry’ is ‘ode’imin,’ which translates to heart berry. All parts of ode’imin, the leaves, fruit, roots, and stems are edible and contain medicine for the heart. Ode’imin is literally heart shaped, and teaches us about love, vulnerability, relationships, and healing. Strawberry project from the greenhouse artlab
