On The Roof Of Chartres Cathedral

Cathedral roof made of old stone, moss on some areas, two people walking up slanted area, one smiling at camera.

Studying medieval stained glass sometimes requires going up to the roof of a monument, either a small church, which is usually easy, or a giant cathedral. On this picture, we see my colleagues Jim Bugslag (UofM) with French photographer, Henri de Feraudy, climbing through one of the Chartres Cathedral gutters to reach the stained glass of its clerestory windows that we had to study. It was a true challenge and pleasure.
