Many pairs of shoes, a miniature teepee, stuffed toys and other items on steps.

After the first 215 unmarked graves were found near the former Kamloops Indian Residential School on Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation in Kamloops, B.C. in May, 2021, children’s shoes were placed on the steps of the Legislative building in Winnipeg to commemorate the tragedy.
